Sunday's event at Greenbush kick-started Badger's 2026 season! We had 51 teams navigating with map and compass, along with a hearty crew of volunteers at the Start/Finish. Thanks to all!

Results from the November 9 event at Lapham Peak can be found here:
Sunday's event at Lapham Peak helped us end the season on a high note. We had nearly 100 people on 63 teams navigating the forest, along with plenty of volunteers making the event possible at HQ. Thanks in particular to Charlie for designing fun courses, Susie for the spot-on map work, Regina for e-punch problem solving, and Ellen for being our event host.
Badger would not exist without the support of many, many other volunteers throughout the season (and during the off-season, too). Thank you for all you do!

Results from the October 18 event at Devil's Lake can be found here: https://center.sportident.com/results/orienteering/badger-orienteering-club/2025/devils-lake-oct-2025/overview/1
Sunday's Devil's Lake event was a warm and golden one, with the sun making all the fall colors pop! Thanks to all of you who turned out, and there were MANY! We had 14 walk-up starts for a total of 29 folks, so many that by about 11:30, walk-ups had to choose between the Beginner course and the Advanced Long due to us running out of maps. (Note to everyone: please preregister for Lapham so that you can be guaranteed the course you want).
Big thanks to the volunteers who did a great job making the day go smoothly, and also to Brian for setting challenging and fun courses with controls like the one in this picture (WOW!), Charlie for vetting the courses, and as always, to Susie for her time and attention to detail on the maps.

Note from BGR Co-President Susie Madden:
We had 58 starts, with over 80 people participating in our final event of Spring 2025.
The weather was breezy but the rain held off and the sun warmed everything up in the
afternoon. Rick Schnell set the courses, which were just the right balance of fun and
challenging. Big thanks to Rick for scouting the park, designing courses, and hanging
the controls in the weeks and days leading up to the event!
Maricel O. from Chicago Orienteering took 1st place on the Long Advanced course and Gillian E. completed her first ever Long Advanced course. We had many people who were
orienteering for the first time, too. As usual, everyone was smiling after finishing their
courses.
It takes many volunteers to make these events happen. Much appreciation to all of the
volunteers who played a part in making today’s event a big success: Rick S., Charlie
S., Linda and Tom S., Ellen H., Gillian E., Chris S., Kevin C., Bobby P., Bob
and Karan D., Tim B. (If I omitted anyone, please know that BGR is grateful for your
help!)

Results from the event at Greenbush:
Last weekend at Greenbush Rec Area, orienteers enjoyed brisk yet pleasant weather, perfect conditions to run through the forest. 31 groups participated in the event, testing their skills across four different courses. Chris Svobada from CAOC blazed through a tough advanced long course in 1 hour and 17 minutes. It was a good day for racing the clock and/or enjoying the woods!

Results from the event at Blue Mound:
Note from BGR Co-President Susie Madden:
More than 50 groups gathered at Blue Mound State Park this weekend for a lively spring orienteering meet. Participants were greeted with classic Wisconsin spring weather—mild temperatures, a bit of sunshine, and just enough mud to make things interesting.
Kevin Chan presented two beginner clinics; and a “Beginner Plus” course was offered, in addition to the regular Beginner course.
Badger Orienteering Club member Peter Zakrevski had the fastest time on the Long Advanced course, followed by orienteers from the Chicago Orienteering Club and the Minnesota Orienteering club in 2nd and 3rd place. It’s always great to host orienteers from other clubs. We encourage our members to attend events organized by other clubs as well! Several Scout groups participated in the event to earn rank advancement, and had lots of fun in the process.
Volunteers and event organizers kept things running smoothly and cheered on participants at the finish. Many newcomers to orienteering said they were already planning to return for future events. After crossing the finish line, people lingered to share stories, compare maps, and enjoy the fresh spring air.
Thank you to volunteers Mark P., Gillian E., Regina S., Rachel G., Katy W., Lara E., Ben S., Liz J., Kevin C., Hailin D., Bob and Karan D., Tom S., Linda S., and Callie for their work to make this another high-caliber event!
